Top 10 High Paying Side Hustles in 2023

So, you want to make some extra money this year.  Many men, especially Gen X men are looking for ways to earn extra money without giving up their 9-5 job.  A side hustle is a great way to turn your interests into a recurring revenue stream during your free time. Here are 10 ideas to earn some extra cash:

      1. Lawn Care. A lot of guys love their lawns but hate mowing and pulling weeds. Good thing is some you guys love lawn care. Lawn care has many lucrative outlets. Outlets can range from simple mowing and edging, to gardening and landscaping. Mowing and edging is self-explanatory. Gardening can include tilling, building above ground gardens, and watering solutions. If you have an eye for design and back breaking work, then landscaping might be for you.
Potential Income: Mowing $25-$50 an hour; Gardening $80 an hour; and Landscaping $1000-$2000+ per project

      1. Private Trainer. Weather you are a gym rat or sports coach, you can capitalize on your hard work. A couple of short accreditation courses and you’re on the way of making some money. Don’t just limit your business model to adults, kids need extra training too. My kids have trainers for Soccer, Volleyball and Speed & Agility that charge $50-$70 an hour in cash.
        Potential Income: $35-$70 an hour

      1. Vending Machine. These machines aren’t the old bowling alley vending machines anymore. From food and drinks to clothing vending machines can sell all sorts of goodies. You can find a refurbished machine for a $1000 and can be paid for in a few months if you get in on a popular location. Years ago, I asked a friend of mine how he makes money from his vending machines? He simply told me that he keeps a quarter, the government gets a quarter, and two quarters fall off the table.
        Potential Income: $1000+ per month

      1. Ordained. Do you like being around people during their happiest day of their life? Well, being an Ordained Minister might be for you. Not only can you eat some free food, but you can listen to some great music. As an ordained minister you can also perform other rites or services.
        Potential Income: $50-$100 an hour

      1. Process Big Game. Most hunters don’t have the knowledge, skill, time, or tools to process large wildlife correctly and quickly. Start up might be costly, I suggest just biting the bullet and get good commercial grade tools, ‘Buy once, cry once’ as they say. I once had an employee that would save all his leave so he could take leave during the entire deer season. He didn’t hunt, he processed deer. I asked him how much he made during those few months? He told me about $80,000 in cash.
        Potential Income: $5000-$80,000 a season

      1. Referee or Umpire. There is a nation-wide shortage of referees and umpires. If you don’t mind getting yelled by crazy moms and coaches, then this is a great side hustle. With a couple short accreditation courses and about $100 in clothing and gear. You can start pissing off moms and ejecting coaches by next weekend. A lot of tournaments will even pay you travel expenses for the weekend. Just don’t think about little league games, high schools and college referees and umpires are in demand. My son started soccer refereeing when he was 13 years old, three years later he is earning $60 per game as a center referee.
        Potential Income: $20-$80 per game

      1. Coaching. Coaching sports is a great activity. It teaches you a lot of patience or forces you to take Lexapro. Either way it’s a win because competitive club coaches can meet some great kids while cashing in. Not only do you get paid for coaching you also get paid travel expenses.
Potential Income: $400-$1200 a month depending on how many teams’ you coach

      1. Commercial or Movie Extra. Production companies are always looking for extras. Most of those people you see in the background of a movie or commercial are making money. Commercials, especially car commercials gigs are easy to find. Movie extras are a little harder to find depending on where you live. Watch for social media posts and blog posts that share casting calls. I had friend, he and his wife would make a $100 each per car commercial every week.
Potential Income: Commercial $100; Movie $200 per session

      1. Freelance Writer. Do you have a niche you like posting about? Why not turn that into a revenue stream as a freelance writer. Most known companies like Time, Sports Illustrated, and others use freelance writers. It’s pretty easy, just stay on topic and write about something you know about. Also, don’t forget about blog sites, we are always looking for good articles.
        Potential Income: $20-$30 an hour

      1. Handyman. If you enjoy working with your hands and fixing things other people have broken, then try being a handyman to earn some extra boat gas money. You get to set your own schedule, choose the service, and learn other skills. It’s not all about ‘helping’ lonely housewives, you may have to actually fix things like ceiling fans, mount TVs, and so on. I had friend that would do yearly HVAC inspection after work. He would charge $40 a system and fill the Freon. If something needed repaired, he would write up an estimate with a referral for the customer. He would inspect 2-3 house a couple days a week. By doing this he was able to pay for his daughter’s gymnastics obsession.                                              Potential Income: $35-$100 an hour

Side hustles are easy to start. Find something fun that you enjoy doing during your free time to make some extra money. Try starting something that is flexible with your schedule, good return on investment, and room to grow.
