A $200 bottle of whiskey is out of reach for a lot of us. Especially when most of us just want to sit down at the end of a long work week in our favorite chair sipping on that brown nectar. As usual, we took one for the team and ‘tested’ over 50 whiskeys from large mainstream producers to smaller producers. So, here at Meneration X we searched high and low to find 6 whiskeys under $60, in no particular order. And no, we aren’t whiskey experts, we are Men that knows what tastes great.

This bourbon continues to make the Top 10 lists of many publications. It has a scent of sweet raisins with notes cloves and tobacco and hints of orange and mint. This high-octane barrel proof is a fantastic example of what a flavorful bourbon can be without being unbearably hot. The spicy smooth finish makes this 112 proof one of our favorite bourbon whiskeys. This is a great entry level bourbon to introduce new drinkers to this type of profile. It’s great mixed or on the rocks.

Augustus Bulleit laid the original foundation recipe over 150 years ago. The taste profile of notes of butterscotch, cookie, toffee and orange marmalade and high rye content it isn’t a complex finish. Since it isn’t a complex bourbon, it can be just as easily mixed or sipped straight. This defiantly is one the best bourbons for the money and a great rotation to your bar.

One of the most accessible and well-respected American bourbons on the market. With our expert palate we were able to taste bourbon. This is a thick and full-tasting spirit that lives up to its promise. It opens up with honey and mint followed by a spicy heart and finishes smooth. It’s a great invitation to the American bourbon. Moreover, this is one of the most affordable options, offering a great experience for the money. Serve it on the rocks.

This whiskey is age five years in used Bourbon barrels. With a quick whiff, it has hints of graham cracker, cloves and of red wine. The palate profile is rather complex, with butterscotch, roasted nuts, spices, brown butter and finishes with a light wood taste. It’s not a overwhelming whiskey, it’s great for beginners and cocktails.

From the shores of Kildalton Cost of Islay brings this phenomenal delicious smoky peat nectar. on the smoking peat! It has an aroma of smoky fruit, black pepper, bacon and touch of lemon. There is an explosion of smoky peat when it hits the palate with spiced toffee, hint of cinnamon and toasted marshmallow. It finishes with a smoky caramel touch. At this price it won’t fail you. Drink it straight.

From Oregon, this Rye Whiskey mash bill is locally grown and aged three years in oak barrels. The first sniff gives us a dried fruit, spices, and honey aroma. The palate offers silky notes of peaches, clove, vanilla and cut cedar. It finished with the sweetness of vanilla and notes of grains. Drink it on the rocks.

Conclusion
